This doll was almost three years in the making if you can believe it!. I finished the sculpting on her but she hid away in a box waiting for the right gown to come along. One day the inspiration faeries attacked with a vengeance and gave me the idea for the type of gown she would wear.
I began my search in vain for just the right materials I knew she would have to have black hair so decided on blue as her theme color. But I couldn't find a brocade that looked medieval or had a pattern small enough not to over power her. She is after all only 14" tall. I was lucky enough to find a brilliant turquoise blue brocaded ribbon that would just do for her bodice and a changeable red-blue organza perfect for her under dress. But still her outer dress eluded me.
Then I found it! A perfect size pattern in a winding floral motif and blue no less! In my excitement I hadn't noticed how red-hued the blue was till it got it next to the half finish dress. The color was all wrong. But a box of Rit dye and a quick dye bath fixed that. Though she looks finished I want to add a mask as though she is attending a ball to complete her so stay tuned.....
